This 3 Day course will be delivered on October 15th, 22nd and 29th and is aimed at individuals who are both experienced leaders and those who are relatively new to leadership, who occupy roles that require then to demonstrate leadership formally or informally. The course will raise awareness of individuals’ leadership potential, providing the opportunity to explore strengths in the context of leadership in the workplace, to achieve greater effectiveness and satisfaction in their role.
The programme takes your challenging work environment and, creating the space to reflect, asks you to explore your strengths and preferred ways of working, to consider how you see yourself and how others see you, and to consider what makes you an effective leader, developing confidence and effectiveness.
Tools and concepts will support an exploration and evaluation of individual qualities and attributes and how these can be helpful or unhelpful depending upon the work-based context. The concepts will focus on the qualities of a leader and understanding what makes you effective, using what you learn to enhance that effectiveness, to benefit you and your organization.
Course Structure
Course content will provide insight into definitions of leadership, qualities of effective leaders, and styles of leadership, including:
The organisational context of leadership.
Contemporary leadership practice, including leadership as a behaviour, a relationship, and an influence process.
Personal and professional leadership qualities, with a strengths focus,
Leading self and others, formal/informal leadership,
Self-identity, social identity, behaviour and impact,
Personality profiling, emotional intelligence and personal values
Communication/influence,
Leader effectiveness.
This course has no formal accreditation or assessment, although students will be asked to produce a reflection on their experience, providing evidence of the impact of the course with a consideration of how this might inform their future development.
