The course introduces principles and theories relating to leadership and relates these to the individual’s workplace and role. An exploration of personal qualities and attributes through the lens of leadership, to increase self awareness, and an understanding of behaviour and effectiveness in a work context. The content can be summarized under the following themes:
• An introduction to leadership theories, including transactional, transformational, situational and authentic leadership. You will also consider the differences between management and leadership and explore what you consider to be the qualities of a “great” leader.• Completion of diagnostics designed to increase self awareness and a reflection upon the individual’s leadership qualities and attributes
• Consideration of the implications for professional effectiveness and future development and career aspirations.
